What it does
Type a US town, pick a radius, and get back every town the Census Bureau has within it -- one "Town, ST" per line, ready to paste into an allow list. Built for filtering listing sites (Marketplace, Craigslist) that claim a search radius but don't actually enforce it.
Why it is private
There is no server involved. Your browser downloads the Census Bureau's public place data once and does the distance math itself. Nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Data source
US Census Bureau 2025 Gazetteer Files (public domain), ~32,000 incorporated places and census-designated places across the 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico. Straight-line ("as the crow flies") distance, not driving distance. Tiny unincorporated hamlets sometimes aren't in the Census list at all, and official Census names occasionally differ from what a site like Marketplace displays (e.g. "Manitou Beach-Devils Lake, MI" vs. just "Manitou Beach, MI") -- skim the pasted list before relying on it for exact-match filtering.
